Conjunction of Opposites
PRINTMAKING AND VIDEO EXHIBITION
August 26th – September 6th, 2025

This exhibition presents the artist’s final doctoral project, exploring the archetypal motif of the union of opposites through alchemical and Jungian symbolism, expressed in both printmaking and video. Drawing on Jung’s concept of reconciling opposing archetypal principles—conscious and unconscious, spirit and matter, masculine and feminine, reason and feeling, order and chaos, reality and imagination—the artist focuses on the process of inner transformation as a path toward individuation: the integration of the personality and encounter with the Self.
At the core of the exhibition is a cycle of thirty-three screen prints, inspired by motifs from the artist’s dreams. These visual forms trace the stages of alchemical transformation, symbolically mapping the journey of individuation. The accompanying video work expands the narrative, layering black-and-white with color imagery, rhythmic editing, and sound composition to create an immersive, multi-sensory experience.
Sretenović’s multimedia practice unfolds as a contemporary visual and sonic ritual, offering a renewed interpretation of the universal symbol coniunctio oppositorum while affirming the significance of interdisciplinarity in contemporary art.
